Dear Citadel Alumni, My name is J.C. Dominick and I am a candidate for the alumni seat on our Citadel Board of Visitors (BOV). This August, you will receive a ballot requesting your vote for the alumni position on the BOV – I am asking for your vote.
As a proud Citadel graduate, I want to represent YOU and continue to work tirelessly to maintain the heritage and traditions that set The Citadel apart from the rest. I am committed not just out of pride of my own accomplishments, but out of my dedication to my own legacy, my grandson, that too will one day be a Citadel graduate (provisional appointee for class of 2033).
After losing my father at the beginning of my senior year of high school, I needed the structure and disciplined environment The Citadel provided. The foundation poured during my time at The Citadel has served me well for the past 50 years and made me into the man I am today: A committed husband, dedicated father, reliable friend and contributing member of society. I take great pride in what it means to wear the RING and be a member of The Citadel Family.
The education provided as well as the opportunities presented by our college, gave me the skills to serve our country in both military and civilian positions. During my 25 years of service in United States Air Force I was able to lead by example, motivate my team and execute even the most complicated tasks – skills I learned at The Citadel. Through my military service I have flown a single-seat fighter, taught many young pilots how to fly, led test teams in advanced radar systems development, led coalition teams and commanded various units across the globe.
For the past 20 years in the civilian sector, I have worked for a Federally Funded Research and Development Corporation, serving our nation’s public interests. I have amassed extensive experience leading through interactive leadership and building exceptional, highly productive teams. I have worked as a systems engineer in Missile Defense Agency, deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom as the Air and Space Operations Center Chief Engineer, developed future war-fighting systems through Air Force Experimentation and served as Site Leader for two operating locations.
The 25 years of military service coupled with the 20 years of corporate service and five years of Citadel Board experience enable me to deal with the many unforeseen issues on our horizon. I have the skills to accomplish those tasks today and am prepared to dedicate whatever time necessary to work those issues and other unforeseen challenges that will arise in the future.
Finally, my skills enable me to be an “official advocate” for The Citadel working with members of the legislature, businesses, prospective major donors, alumni and local governments to spread the good word about our product — the Principled Leader.
Today, retired from corporate life, I am ready to continue investing my time, talent and resources into the institution that has given so much to me. I am qualified for the job and ask for your vote.
